If you're chasing a Ber Rune, the first thing to sort out is your Kurast Undercity setup. The Season 15 route described here depends on two War Plans perks working together: Gutter Filth and Bauble Day. Without both active, running through beacons won't complete the merchant sequence you're after. For players comparing D4 items while planning their next upgrade, that preparation matters more than rushing into another run. Check your nodes first. It could save you time spent pursuing an encounter your current setup can't deliver.

Make the beacon encounter your priority

Gutter Filth gives activated beacons a small chance to summon a Portal Prankster. Bauble Day supplies the follow-through: defeat that creature, finish the dungeon, and the Cabochon Merchant should appear near the rewards. There's a catch, though. A small chance means you shouldn't expect the creature on every attempt. Dedicated tributes aren't required for this approach, so your immediate job is straightforward. Keep moving, activate beacons, and watch for the encounter. Once it appears, make sure you've defeated the creature before pushing toward the boss.

Finish the run before looking for the shop

The merchant encounter is tied to completing the Undercity after the Portal Prankster has been defeated. You still need to reach the boss, win that fight, and enter the rewards area. Look behind the reward chests for the Cabochon Merchant. That's where the preparation pays off, assuming the encounter conditions have been met. Before starting, it helps to keep a short checklist in mind. Nobody wants to reach the rewards and realize they missed the step that mattered.

Activate Gutter Filth and Bauble Day.
Use beacons until a Portal Prankster appears.
Defeat it, complete the boss fight, and check behind the chests.

Compare the price with the crafting route

The listed direct price for a Ber Rune is 50,000,000 gold. That's a serious purchase, so inspect the merchant's materials before spending. The described recipes offer another route: three Lith runes plus one Grand Topaz produce a Ber Rune, while three Ohm runes and one Flawless Diamond produce a Lith rune. Work backward from what you already own. If you're sitting on useful ingredients, crafting may suit your situation. If you're starting with almost nothing, compare the full material cost with the direct price.

Keep enough resources for your next upgrade

It's easy to focus on getting the merchant to appear and forget the bill waiting afterward. Keep gold available, and account for crafting supplies such as Forgotten Souls when choosing your route. If you're browsing a D4 items buy page alongside your own farming plans, decide which upgrade you're pursuing before committing resources. The practical goal is simple: arrive with the right perks, complete the encounter sequence, and have enough currency or materials to act when the merchant appears.
